With the current
financial climate meaning many companies are cutting back on jobs, the
luxury of being able to take time off to study for an advanced degree is a
thing of the past. This is why many executives are now choosing to study
for EMBA’s. The Executive Masters in Business Administration is rapidly
becoming the most appreciated business qualification. It is associated
with the sort of executive who has already established their strengths and
specialities, perhaps already in possession of an advanced degree in
another area, and people with plenty of top level experience.
One of the important
things for EMBA’s is that due to its part time nature, it is convenient
for the executive to study at a business school that is nearby. Before the
ugly head of recession loomed, it probably wouldn’t have mattered as much,
but with purse strings tightening across the planet it is getting more and
more difficult to get expensive flights paid for. Indeed, more and more
executives will find that their employers will be reluctant to even help
them with their tuition fees. Many candidates offer to contribute their
own funds, or perhaps even their bonuses in order to pursue an EMBA.
London is an area which
is perfect for executives to be able to balance study and work, with
several top ranking business schools within the city, such as the London
Business School, Cass Business School, London School of Economics and
Political Science, and the Tanaka Business School. They are the perfect
location for those wanting to be in the thick of it.
However, for those who
want to enjoy the study experience in some peace and quiet should look a
little further afield- there are several business schools dotted around
the leafy and beautiful countryside that surrounds the capital- far enough
to be detached from the intensity of the city, yet close enough to be easy
to reach, such as the Cranfield School of Management just outside of Luton,
and also the Ashridge Business School. Ashridge
offers both EMBA and
MBA
courses, that both pride themselves as being as for from
chalkboards as possible. They have an excellent syllabus, and offer
modules covering a variety of subjects such as
change management.
