Cuts are being made everywhere.
Graduates, those who have been made redundant, and even those who took a
career break are going to find it harder and harder to get into large
companies. So what are they to do?
The solution is simple… go back to
school. In the 80’s and 90’s recessions there was a clear trend towards
people going back to higher education, and it looks like the trend is
repeating itself. It makes sense in several ways- for one, graduates and
those out of work ‘sit out’ this period of turmoil, and more importantly
they better themselves and enhance their prospects of future employment.
For those who are committed to a career in business and more importantly management, it may be an invaluable time to consider studying for an MBA. A Masters in Business Administration is a qualification that explores the theory of management, exposing students to a wide spectrum of modules, from organizational behavior, economics, operations management, international business, marketing, accounting, IT management, supply chain management and project management.
There are many business schools located worldwide,
and you will often find that business schools have a much higher number of
international students than you would with universities. This is great for
improving your communications skills and also forging invaluable contacts.
If you live and want to study in the UK, it is a good idea to ensure you
study for an MBA with a school that is accredited by the Association of
MBA’s. A good school to consider if you are based in London is the
Ashridge Business School, which is based on beautiful grounds just outside
of London. They offer both full time and part time MBA courses.
In such a moment of turmoil, when it
is quite clear that the structure of the global economy needs to be
