Balanced Scorecard
The balanced scored is used to quantify some previously unquantifiable
issues. This can prove very effective in making organisational targets
SMART. This is a well respected and established acronym for setting targets
and stands for:
- Specific - To make sure you can set precise goals, the balanced scorecard can help with quantification
- Measurable - Again, the balanced scorecard can quantify previously unquantifiable issues in order to be measured
- Attainable - A bit of common sense never goes a miss in setting achievable objectives
- Realistic - The balanced scorecard approach can make sure that the path from setting to completion is realistic
- Timed - There is no point setting a target without a date for completion, or a date which is unrealistic
